Abstract

This experiments were performed to study the influence of salivary flow rates to salivary pH in dental student.
Dental student weighing 45^(Kg) -65^(Kg), were attached with Lashley¢¥s vaccum cup on stenson¢¥s duct opening and collected parotid saliva both resting and stimulating.
Resting saliva was collected after mouth wash and stimulating salivas were collected after 3010 citric acid solution, 20% sugar solution,- have topically applicated on the tip of tongue and mastication of paraffin wax on the contralateral side of Lashley¢¥s vaccum cup was attached.
Salivary flow rate was measured with. 0.l§¢ gradient tube and expressed §¢/min. salivary pH was measured with pH paper.
This experiments concluded as following.
1. The citric acid stimulating induces the greastest salivary flow.
2. The stimulating of taste materials were superior to paraffin wax mastication on salivary flow rate.
3. The salivary pH was reduced as the salivary flow rates were increased.
